Over-the-Rhine Economic Assets

Over-The-Rhine has many economic assets. Its location is adjacent downtown and south of the University-Medical complex positions it between the two largest employments centers in the region. The neighborhood is home to a number of regional destinations like the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Findlay Market, Music Hall, the Ensemble Theatre, and the Pendleton Arts Center. With its many economic assets this historic 19th century neighborhood has positioned itself very well to take advantage of the 21st century opportunities.

Many of the elements for a robust economy are already present in the neighborhood. The successes of the Main Street Entertainment District and the technology industry (digital rhine) demonstrate that Over-the-Rhine has the elements essential for creating a healthy business environment. Many in the technology industry cited the uniqueness of the community as one of the reasons for selecting Over-the-Rhine as a home. OTR provides a locale where businesses can be close to the area’s hub of economic activity, and employees can live close to where they work. The presence of the high-speed internet capacity presents a real advantage over many other locations not as well served by the digital infrastructure.
